DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS has been extended to May 22, 2023.
Hishkoonikun supports the educational aspirations of students from Kashechewan First Nation who wish to receive post secondary education through sponsorship. Financial assistance provided is subject to approval by the Hishkoonikun Education Authority Selection Committee Members and subject to the availability of funds.
NEW STUDENTS
New students apply for Educational Assistance through the post secondary department. The student will need to provide the Hishkoonikun Education Authority with the following:
- a written letter indicating career and academic goals,
- a letter of reference from previous profession or employer,
- HEA Application for Educational Assistance, form1222 – pg1 (signed and completed)
- EA Application for Educational Assistance, form1222 – pg2 (signed and completed),
- Post Secondary student agreement – form SA3,
- consent to release of information – form SA4,
- letter of acceptance from educational institution,
- tuition fee statement indicating total costs,
- textbook fee schedule indicating booklist including costs,
- documents of previous education – transcripts, diplomas, certificates,
- written form on where grassroots stem, if applicable,
- a photocopy of Indian Status card (both sides), if applicable, and
- other pertinent information as required by the Post Secondary Counsellor.
CONTINUING STUDENTS
Students who plan to continue in their program of study are required to submit a Letter of Intent addressed to the Selection Committee Members by May 1st of each year indicating their need for continued educational assistance.
The Post Secondary Counsellor will request that additional forms be completed and signed.
An applicant must submit his/her Application for Post Secondary Educational Assistance and required documentations documents to the Hishkoonikun Education Authority by the following deadlines:
May 1 for programs beginning in the fall semester
October 1 for program beginning in the winter semester
March 1 for programs beginning in spring/summer semester(s)
